So as I type this, I'm standing in the grocery store. Kinda an odd place to begin a blog post, but I was instantly inspired by the conversation my Mom had with the checker.
Basically, the checker mentioned how she had constantly been eating candy through the past 5 holidays. They went on to name all the holidays with candy. It is apparent that the opportunities to indulge in society are never ending.
So, where is the point where temptation must end? And why do we feel like as a nation we must celebrate holidays surrounded by chocolate, cakes, cookies, and green bean casserole?
As I come up on 16 years on this world, a short amount to voice my opinion on such a taboo topic, I've realized you must be the change you wish to see in the world. (Ghandi was one smart man) And that before you try to fix anything, you must first lead by example. For me, that is my peers and surprisingly my family as well.
I know it is completely unrealistic to never eat anything "bad", but I also know there are alternatives in every decision we face. For example, instead of eating green bean casserole, how bout just steamed beans?
It is not difficult to make small, healthier decisions throughout life. Everything adds up.
Just needed to vent. Thanks for reading.

Saturday lunch!
Hi all! Behold my delicious lunch! Left over pizza, roasted chicken, and most exciting of all....
Fruit cottage cheese.
Now before you stop dead while reading this, listen up.
Even if you hate cottage cheese, this stuff is good.
I add:
-1/2 c cottage cheese
-2 strawberries
-4 raspberries
-1+ tsp. raspberry jam
Stir everything together and behold! Yumminess!
I was the model of hating cottage cheese, but trust me I fell in love. Not only is this sweet and HEALTHY, but its is a great source of protein.
Try it, love it. XO, Kristen

The Best Coach I Will Ever Have
Hi there,
So I recently sent an email to my old gymnastics coach about a summer job. I haven't seen him since December momentarily, but in reality he stopped being MY coach almost a year ago. I would see him 5 days a week 3 hours a day, and he was basically my second Dad. So as we continued to reply to each other about work and what my life has been since the ending of gymnastics he sent me his "Quotes of the week", and I have to admit, I teared up a little. Every quote hit me hard in the gut and is exactly all of the issues I've been facing lately. It just goes to show you never really lose that connection and its so great to get those moments back. No other coach I ever have will ever know me as we'll inside and out as him. I am so thankful of him everyday for how he changed my life in gymnastics and now, 8 months later and forever.
With that, maybe these quotes will hit you in the heart too.

1st Week of January 2013
“Look at children. Of course they may quarrel, but generally speaking they do not harbor ill feelings as much or as long as adults do. Most adults have the advantage of education over children, but what is the use of an education if they show a big smile while hiding negative feelings deep inside? Children don’t usually act in such a manner. If they feel angry with someone, they express it, and then it is finished. They can still play with that person the following day.” Dalai Lama XIV

“Old friends pass away, new friends appear. It is just like the days. An old day passes, a new day arrives. The important thing is to make it meaningful: a meaningful friend - or a meaningful day.”

“Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.”
